ESCAPING the daily grind and retreating to a tranquil part of our world for no less than a week is the true essence of a real holiday.
Perth caterer, cooking school teacher and culinary tour guide Nico Moretti, who runs his Urban Provider – Cooking Passions cooking school from his Leederville home, is becoming renowned for his annual gastronomic sojourns to Bali.
From Saturday, March 21, to Friday, March 27, he will again escort a group of 12 foodies to the picturesque Indonesian island for another luxury gourmet retreat package spanning seven days and six nights ($1495 per person, twin share, excluding airfares).
Participants will stay at the ALiLA Ubud, perched in the mountains outside of Ubud, as well as the seaside hideaway of ALiLA Manggis, in East Bali. Nico said both resorts were far away from the bright lights, crowds, hawkers and bustle of tourist hot spots Kuta and Seminyak.
The itinerary has been designed to be flexible, allowing participants to do as little or as much as they prefer, while participating in some Balinese cooking and eating experiences.
There is also a spa kitchen class, in which guests learn to create their own spa treatments, followed by a complimentary ALiLA spa treatment.
There will also be opportunities to use local organic ingredients in preparing Balinese dishes at ALiLA’s open-air cooking school set amongst East Bali’s famous terraced ricefields.
