IRIS growers shared their passion for the flowers, affectionately known as the Iris Virus, in a colourful display at the WA Iris Society Annual Show at Belmont Forum.
Show organiser Judy Chappel said mild winter conditions had made this year’s blooms an outstanding collection.
“We had not so much a wet winter, but there was a lot of cloud cover which helps keep the temperature down and the blooms vibrant,” she said.
Ms Chappel has more than 230 iris plants in her High Wycombe garden along with 200 roses.
“People say ‘I just love your garden; it gives you a lift when you see it’.
“It is my only vice. I don’t drink or smoke; I only spend money on flowers and fertiliser.”
