LAKE Karrinyup Golf Club is in tiptop shape to host Australia’s richest golf tournament in just three months time.
As anticipation builds for the announcement on which of the world’s leading golfers will tee-off in the $2 million Perth International Golf Championship, LKGC general manager Damon Lonnie said the club’s preparations were tracking well.
“We are at the stage of fine-tuning the golf course and preparing the clubhouse and car park to cater for the significant numbers of visitors, which we expect to be within the thousands,” he said.
“As for the grounds, winter has been good to us and our greens are looking great.”
Golf promoter IMG spokesman Simon Corkill said the tournament was set to attract some of the world’s best players and would be broadcast to 350 million homes in about 65 countries.
Mr Corkill said players would be announced later this month when ticket details, sponsorship deals and television rights were revealed. Perth International Golf Championship will run from October 18 to 21.
