SELECTED as team captain for the under-13 National boys football team was the highlight of a recent football festival in Malaysia for Atwell boy Thomas Beadling.

He captained the under-13 boys’ team in the Asian Football Confederation U13 Boys Festival of Football at the beginning of the month.

Five WA players were chosen to play in the national team, following their performance in the WA Under-13 State Team at the National Junior Championships.

The other WA players were Leo Athanasiou from Hamilton Hill, Landsdale resident Daniel DeSilva, Benjamin Hombert from City Beach and Matthew Ntoumenopolous of Ballajura.

Thomas (13), was given the honour of leading the team as the team captain, carrying the national flag in the opening ceremony.

The team had plenty of success in the tournament where it won six, drew two and lost two games.
