A SWIM team from the Hills will take on the Rottnest Channel Swim on February 20, one of the largest open-water swimming events in the world.

Cameron Hore, Joe Kendall, Elliott Chipper and Matthew Adams are part of Hills Hopefuls, a team keen to conquer the 19.7km swim.

Team captain Cameron said the swim was something they were all eager to take part in.

“Traditionally, we’re not swimmers – Matt, Joe and I play footy but we’re all friends so we thought it was something a bit different,” he said.

“Personally, it’s something I’ve always wanted to do.”

Cameron said each member trained for the swim separately but they met up every couple of weeks to swim together and evaluate progress levels. He said they were very competitive and hoped to finish the swim within seven hours.

The Rottnest Channel Swim starts from Cottesloe Beach and finishes at Thomson Bay.
