THE City of Perth has released a much anticipated document for public comment which is expected to influence the physical and social fabric of the city over the next two decades.

Lord Mayor Lisa Scaffidi says the draft document, An Urban Design Framework – a Vision for Perth 2029, covers a range of initiatives to make the city more functional and improve its appeal as a place to live, visit and do business.

“There are many planning approaches recommended in the Urban Design Framework such as providing new parks and public open spaces through to better public transport connections,” Ms Scaffidi said.

The Urban Design Framework can be viewed at www.perth.wa.gov.au/udf and written comments can be lodged until April 9 at peter.monks@cityofperth.wa.gov.au

Good, but please!!
1. More internal access routes eg usable & safe laneways with open internal courtyards to provide access between main streets. King street is a success, where are the other specialist groupings of cafes??
2. More mini-parks, tree plantings, meeting areas other than on main streets. You have cut down the size of Central Park, where are the other grassed or meeting areas ?? cf other major western world cities. 3. We need an internal ring road, both East of the main city and also (preferably sunken) between city and river for East West traffic.
Please, please open your eyes, look to the best in Europe which have cities for people not cars!!
