TWO friends will test their knowledge of Perth when they participate in the 2012 Kathmandu Urban Series next month.

The Kathmandu Urban is a part adventure race, part scavenger hunt with a mix of The Amazing Race thrown in, which will take place in the city on July 14.

Karawara resident Jeffrey Santoso (21) has been friends with Wilson resident Zachary Oliver (20) since high school and said he was curious to see how well they did the challenges.

“We just wanted to see if we could actually do it,” he said.

“Like The Amazing Race, it is meant to challenge you physically and mentally.

“We have never really done anything like this so it will be interesting.

“I am pretty confident we will not have any problems.”

But Mr Oliver is not quite as confident.

“I think we will be fine for the physical side of the challenge, but some of the other challenges could be quite difficult,” he said.

The two university students will be up against 160 teams to complete the challenges as quickly as possible.

In the past it has included eating worms, snorkelling fully clothed, cycling blindfolded and rock-climbing in a tutu.
