A QUICK break at her parents’ Warnbro home, including a very lazy Australia Day, was a well-earned reward for jet-setting singer, songwriter and actor Emi Green.
She recently released her debut five-track CD online, with a percentage of sales going to a charity supported by her partner, UK adventurer Dave Cornthwaite.
Only 500 CDs have been released. Emi (22) hopes to trump that by signing a record deal early this year as her London-based agent, armed with 20 of Emi’s original songs and three music videos, continues negotiations with several labels.
Emi is no stranger to hard work. A former Warnbro Primary School and Frederick Irwin Anglican School student, she moved to Sydney at 16 to study performing arts at the Brent Street studio before earning a lead role alongside Chaim Topol in Fiddler on the Roof during a three-year international tour.
She recently spent time as narrator in the UK production of Joseph and his Amazing Technicolour Dream Coat and has had cameos in Home and Away.
A trained pianist, Emi realised her passion lay with song writing and singing after teaching herself how to play the guitar 18 months ago.
“I’ve always written songs but it was a personal thing. Now it’s my way of being creative, vastly different to acting where you portray a prescribed character.”
But for now, it’s back to the fast-paced London lifestyle for Emi where she juggles bar work, temping, and dance and voice instruction while recording her music at night.
