THE new owner of the Rockingham Veterinary Clinic, Jessica Fawkes, is committed to seeing the clinic continue for at least the next 30 years.
With current owner Kathleen Verrier due to retire at the end of February, Ms Fawkes is looking forward to developing the business and is already searching for a new location for the practice.
She said clients would be notified about the move in advance, if or when it occurred.
“The future of the address is unknown, but the future of the practice is assured,” she said.
Ms Fawkes has been a vet for 20 years, owning her own practice near Fremantle for more than a decade.
For the past two years, she has volunteered her skills in Fiji and Samoa and worked in the UK.
Ms Fawkes admits to driving past the Rockingham practice for many years.
“I always wondered what was behind the gates,” she said.
After 20 years, she said she still loved her job, despite the challenges.
“Unfortunately, people see the vet as a go-to place for dumping pets,” she said.
There are more than 10 kittens and a rooster at the clinic in need of new homes.
