SAM Treasure was 14 and doing work experience when he knew he wanted to be a panel beater.

The 18-year-old apprentice from Vulcan Panel and Paint in Canning Vale was recently named winner of the Auto Body Repair RAC Advantage Travel Award.

His lecturing staff at Polytechnic West in Carlisle nominated him for his performance and dedication during his training.

The award recognises his achievements and painting ability as a fourth-year apprentice.

“It’s a bit of a surprise and a great achievement to know I’m one of the best panel beaters in the State,” Sam said.

His reward includes a trip to Melbourne for a study tour, where they will visit manufacturing plants and workshops.
