Worth saving

I HAVE read once again that a black cloud hovers over the future of the Bold Park Aquatic Centre.

The list of pros in support of maintaining this centre goes on and on, and teaching children to swim and exercise in this era of obesity would seem to be of paramount importance.

Surely the money spent on upgrading this facility, like the recent Claremont Pool, would be justified by an increase in surrounding schools using it for school carnivals etc, especially if a covered area was added, and everybody could use it throughout the winter as well for exercise.

A lot of elderly and sports people use the pool for exercise and rehabilitation.

I am sure most people would rather pay more for admission than risk losing this important centre.

Also the recent beautification of Oceanic Drive and kerbing modification around the entrance to the centre would then have to be classified as another waste of money!

The pool’s future must be guaranteed and the issue put to bed once and for all.

Interesting thoughts Heather, the Mayor form my understanding is concerned that people from outside of the area do not contribute to the facility and should. Yet, walk across the road and the biggest cash cow they have is encouraged to be used by all? and on top of this it is partly built on the road reserve for the Stephenson Hwy, so they have been raking in big $$$ off something that we all contribute to and own.
Hypocrits, I think so!
