I WORK for a large retail company that recently has been told that any gift vouchers that expire must, by law, be exchanged for a new voucher until such time as it is redeemed.
So why is it that other retail companies are still insisting that their gift vouchers will expire and if not redeemed within the time period, cannot be used?
How can cash expire? That is all a gift card is, cash swapped for a piece of paper to the same amount.
Maybe the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission should get on to these smaller retail companies involved instead of always picking on the larger ones.
