Heathridge Soccer Club is kicking off the new season as a 'Healthy Club'.
The club is one of approximately 200 clubs to be successful in receiving the new 'Healthy Club' sponsorship from Healthway.
The sponsorship program, managed by sports Medicine Australia, is taking a unique direction with a holistic approach to health rather than focussing on one particular health issues.
"This sponsorship will assist our club to implement healthy initiatives and to in improve current training and competition initiatives," said Club Secretary, Chris Jackson.
Sports medicine Australia is assisting sponsored clubs to develop and implement policies that support new healthy initiatives including sports injury prevention, their area of expertise.
According to Sports Medicine Australia's Sponsorship Officer, Fiona Boys, "by focusing on the areas of tobacco control, sun protection, injury prevention, healthy eating and sensible alcohol practices, clubs become actively involved in preventing injury and illness and providing a healthy environment for all participants.
'Heathridge Soccer Club is committed to providing a safe and enjoyable environment for our members so come down to the Iluka Sports Complex on Sundays and support our healthy club', said Chris Jackson.
